Real stereo has large horizontal disparity, so the search is widened to max_disparity=64; if a scene's disparity still exceeds the syntax range the residual grows and the reduction shrinks \u2014 reported per scene, not hidden. Luma-only, apples-to-apples (both modes code identical views). Middlebury is RESEARCH-only (labelled); the commercial claim is reserved for DrivingStereo. The deliverable is the decoder-normative MVS1 syntax measured on REAL multi-camera data with a bootstrap CI."
